Oh gosh, just when you think your doing well a little 11 day old will knock you off your rocker and into reality.  :) The B family won my January New Beginnings contest and I was more than thrilled, because 2 years ago I was there 6 days after their dearest little {B} was born.  I can still remember how sweet she was and easy to work with.  2 years later and the most adorable sister {A} at 11 days decided she was not about to miss a wink of the action.. this shoot took over 2 days as we ran out of light on the first day.  Thank you to the B family for again letting me into your family and for your unsurmountable patience as we attempted to sooth little {A} I am glad to hear that she conked out forever afterwards.. lol!

Oh gosh where to begin!!!  There will be much more of this little guy creeping on my pages in the coming times but the hardest thing to choose was which photo to pick first!!!  You may remember I recently did {M} and {S}’s maternity shoot, well mr {L} decided to show up a little earlier than expected! Not only did he have his own plans as to which way he wanted to come out, he made the urgent appearance a 12 days ahead of time.

These are by far my most popular order.  I can order them in wallet or 3×3 square format.  They make an awesome gift for grandmothers, as little brag books. They have a magnet hidden inside the cover and can be placed on any metal surface or you can order protective covers to keep your booklet safe in your purse!!  All orders are custom designed with your photos

Over the next few weeks I thought I would showcase a few of the many products I have to offer my clients.   I am often approached by prospective clients about purchasing digital only packages.  I know there are many photographers out and about offering these packages and I do offer digital files, but I do admit I try to discourage them.  Not because I don’t want to give them over, but because there are soo many way cooler things to do with your photos than just .97cent prints at Walmart.  First off let me give you my reasoning behind the discouragement.  I want you to be thrilled with the prints you get of your photos.  There is actually a little bit of science to printing.  Inks react differently to different paper if you look at the same photo say printed on newsprint for one extreme and in a high glass fashion magazine like vogue. It could be the same image but the quality and colour are going to be really different.  The same thing happens with photo paper, not all photo paper is created equal.  Pro photographers use pro labs not readily available to the public.  We spend time calibrating our monitors to our printers colour profile, their paper standards and we recalibrate every few days to ensure our colour is bang on.  Colour profiles can vary widely from printer to printer, if I give you a digital file and you print it at some big box store you may notice that the print is really pink especially in the skin tones, or even worse, green.

Over the next few weeks I will explain more on printing with your photographer over printing yourself but I really wanted to get to the products.  This first product I am showcasing is obviously my clients name spelled with his photos isn’t he so freakin cute?  I could print this on a regular print, or on art paper, print it to a canvas float wrap or to frame it in a really cool frame from the organic bloom!

Who said a dog crate isn’t an awesome playpen? During a recent family gathering we suddenly realized that the house was too quiet, you know the moment when all parents wonder what their wonderful offspring is up to.  A naive unparent like myself would assume that the child has tuckered themselves out and found their way to bed, or that they are quietly playing with their toys in their room.  But any parent will only make this mistaken assumption once before what I assume is the same feeling that overcame us unparents when the realization hit us that almost 2 year old Luke was awefully quiet and missing from the living room action from minutes before.  A search was launched.  Where did we find this young explorer?  Inside Farleys crate happily pretending to be a jail inmate, (I am sure a game his parents are absoloutely thrilled with).  His 4 year old sister happily locking him in and telling him he was only to have bread and water and no phone call.  I am not going to lie, I was a little concerned.  I usually keep my work life from my personal life but I had only days before shown up in my uniform in a rush to get the drive overwith.  The 4 year old niece immediately latched onto my uniform asking me all sorts of prying questions about arresting people and getting them to jail (In my defence I never said we only feed bread and water and yes people get a phone call ).  I assumed she wasn’t really listening because I made a joke about allowing prisoners to bring their teddy bears into the cell with them.. Oh but an experienced parent knows that those minds are like sponges and just like an elephant they NEVER forget.  A few days later I am standing in the doorway looking at our Niece locking our nephew into the dog crate and handing him his teddy bear for the duration of his jail sentence.. When I met {S} and {M} for their maternity session I was thrilled to photograph a couple soo willing to brave the snowy winter elements and do a maternity shoot both outdoors and in.  The weather was NOT on our side that day.  The wind was gusting soo much and snow was falling so rapidly I really wasn’t sure how much I would like the results.  We went off in our cars around the neighbourhood and jumped in and out to take quick shots and quickly retreat to the house for a cuppa hot cocoa and some much needed defrosting of our toes (Not to mention my lenses).  I knew the moment I met {S} and {M} that we would get along, I mean we have the same car, a VW diesel wagon.  Thank god for those seat heaters that day!  {S} and {M} are so in love and such fun together.  {M} was my ever trusty assistant, cracking smiles and joks to get {S} to relax and enjoy the camera, not to mention he has a great eye too!  I love it when my families get involved in the action and play it up for the camera.  I am happier still to hear that little {L} made a healthy early appearance and I can’t wait to meet the little man!!. Congratulations {M} and {S}.

Wow what an amazing Holiday we had!  After a week of much needed rest from the studio we began the new year with such a bang!  A set of triplet boys we have been expecting and praying for a safe arrival and pass through the NICU has settled home and I was thrilled and so excited to finally meet these little guys!  The {E} family welcomed the three {C} baby boys and I have to give alot of kudos to the {E}  family for being so prepared, organized and amazingly calm in such crazy times with 3 newborn baby boys bouncing into their lives.  I was exhausted after just a few hours.  The boys are all very happy, healthy and wonderful to be with.  Thank you {E} family for letting me share in your amazing miracle and joy for the day.
